My Journey for a Cure...

My journey for a cure started before I even realized it!   In 1995, I was seventeen years old and thought I was invincible.  However, very quickly, my life was turned upside down when my father was diagnosed with leukemia.  I never thought anything could take down a man, 6'8" in stature and with such a love of life.  My father fought hard against this disease but passed away from leukemia in 1997. This grounding experience has influenced me to become a candidate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man and Woman of the Year Campaign.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a fund raising competition among individuals in the community who vie for the honor of being the Man or Woman of the Year.   Each dollar raised during the ten week campaign, counts as one vote towards the candidate’s campaign.  The titles are awarded to the man and woman with the most votes after the ten week campaign ending on April 30thPlease join me in my journey for a cure and contribute to my campaign with monetary donations, in-kind gifts and attending the many exciting events on the calendar.

My family and I have been affected by blood cancers as well as so many other loving families.  Every 4 minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone dies from blood cancer.  Despite these truly saddening statistics, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has made tremendous accomplishments in research and new medications to fight blood cancers.  Additionally, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has been hard at work for the past 60 years and their efforts have greatly improved patient support.

As a candidate, I want to continue sharing my father's loving spirit and fight for life to make a difference for those suffering from blood cancers.  Please follow my 'Journey for a Cure', donate and find out about upcoming events on this website. All giving is tax deductible and please know that your contributions will help advance the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Thank you!
